Road Closures


Beach Road Closed 5:30am – 11:30am (Bayside Region) 5:30am – 12:00pm (city of Port Phillip region).



On Sunday 14 April 2019, Challenge Melbourne is set to attract more than 1,500 triathletes who will fight it out for a share of $20,000 prize money.

To ensure the safety of all event participants and the community, temporary changes to traffic conditions must be implemented. Appropriate traffic control measures as approved by Victoria Police and the relevant road authority will be temporarily installed on all intersections that provide vehicle access onto the course.

During the event residents will still have full access to their properties using the resident access lane under the management of traffic marshals.

Only Residents and businesses can cross over the closure at the managed crossings in your area as below:
•  Dickens St – St Kilda Marina
•  Head Street
•  Martin Street
•  North Road
•  Bay Street
•  Normanby Street – access to Brighton Baths/Bright Yacht Squadron and residents on St Kilda St (South of Bay St)
•  Georgiana St – Jetty Road – access to Sandringham Yacht Squadron

We encourage you to enjoy watching the event from anywhere on the course, including at the race venue at Catani Gardens, St Kilda where there will be sponsors displays, food and entertainment.

•  Friday 12 April between 9.00am and 5.00pm
•  Saturday 13 April between 9.00am and 6.00pm
•  Sunday 14 April between 5.00am and 4.30pm
